Crumb rubber concrete (CRC) is a new kind of concrete such as the controlled concrete added the crumbed rubber (about 1mm~2mm) as its components. The text adopted different method of experiment and academic analysis to test the damping ratio of the CRC which have different amount of crumbed rubber. It can provide a few data to the study on the frame structure design, so the study has a quite important significance. Two kinds of concrete specimens, the crumb rubber concrete (CRC) and the controlled concrete, are tested as a cantilever beam for measuring their damping coefficients by the free attenuation method. The preliminary results show that the damping coefficient for the former specimen is higher than the latter. Then the experiment project was optimized. Five kinds of crumb rubber concrete specimens (CRC) besides a controlled concrete, are tested as a cantilever beam for measuring their damping coefficients by the modal analysis method. In addition, ANSYS was used to simulate the experiment process. The value of damping ratio was input as the known paramaters to the ANSYS modal. After modal anslysis we can find the frequency and vibration modal, it is the same as those in the test, the difference of their numerical value is negligible. The both results show that adding crumbed rubber may help increase the damping capacity for the concrete as well. Finally the text analized two frames those have different beam material through the analysis soft ANSYS. Put a same false seismic action on these two plane frame, we calculated their internal force and horizontal displacement of different time through the method of transient analysis. Then the analysis results were disposed at the time that the horizontal displacement of the frame is the largest. Then we can get the beam's moments and the displacement of the frame's every floor. We find that the largest moment of the crumb rubber concrete beam is much less than the one of controlled concrete beam, even to 44%. The horizontal displacement of the top floor is also much different, the crumbd rubber concrete beam frame is less 37.7% than the conrolled concrete beam frame. So we can draw a conclusion that the introduction of the crumber rubber concrete to the frame's action in the earthquake is significant. At the same time, the text analyzied the cost of this two beam according to the present price of the tectonic material in the market. The results show that the expense of the crumb rubber concrete beam is a little than the controlled concrete beam's. So, we can conclude that the adoption of crumb rubber concrete may get considerable benefit though a little additional expense, and show indirectly the feasibility and applicability of the crumb rubber concrete's damping characteristic applied to the frame structure design.
