Ultrasonic non-destructive inspection method is one of the most important inspection methods. In the past several years, with the development of related theories and technologies, ultrasonic non-destructive inspection is also asked to improve rapidly. In the field of ultrasonic inspection, thick steel plate inspection has great meaning to our country's modern society construction. With the development of industry, the needs of thick steel plate are much more than before and the method of ultrasonic inspection must improve greatly.The inspection equipments, which are used to inspection thick steel plates especially, can classify two mainly parts: large, fixed equipments and handy, smart equipments. But the two methods are not very properly in filed inspection. This paper gives a new way to inspection thick steel plates. An automation small vehicle that can run with the program and at the same time it can test the plates with the multi-channel ultrasonic tesing card. This system improves inspection efficiency obviously.The following are main achievements of this thesis:1. Integrated with modern industry ultrasonic inspection to the thick steel plate methods, this paper presentes a new system, which is based on the navigation component and controllable electrical motor.2. Decribed the mechanical departments of the automation vehicle and the fouction of every parts and the ways they work.3. According to the automation vehicle moving characters, the paper instroduces the theories which were used in the system.4. Designed a card, which was used to control the moving gesture of the automation vehicle and also can communicate with the data acquisition card and introduce some important parts of the card.5. Accoding to the hardware system, we make up some important parts sofeware. C8051F023 was designed with C51.6. Discuss the method of data processing and anlysis the errors of the moving gesture in theory.
