Then the methods of calculating the protection setting value of all electrical component and sensitivity correction are put forward. So the design about protection of the power system of marine petroleum platform is perfect.Finally, the paper researches the problem about overvoltage of marine cable. The capacity of the marine cable is more than overhead line's. So the overvoltage of marine cable is appeared more easily when its length reaches some level, even if its length is less. When the value of overvoltage is low, the regulating transformer with load can be used. If the value of overvoltage is high, shunt reactor should be used to restrain the capacitance current. According to the time-varying work condition, the controllable shunt reactor is put forward. It can let the power system of marine petroleum platform operate steadily at rated voltage. The paper can increase worked efficiency and reduce mistake in design.
