Dynamic characters and applications for spring supported boiler feed pump foundations are studied. The theoretic analysis is done by making a single rigid body model with Lagrange's function. It is very easy for symmetric systems to calculate the dynamic characters for the foundations. Finite-element analysis is done with program STARDYNE. With the finite-element model, model characters and dynamic analysis under machine excitation are done. With the analysis of the foundation we can find some relations between the dynamic characters of the foundation and the thickness of the foundation: if the stiffness of springs is fixed, the system dynamic response is not always in direct ratio with the foundation thickness, it mainly depends on the differences between the machine frequency and the foundation natural frequencies. So there should be one exact foundation thickness which can give us a nice dynamic response control. For projects we can only get the right foundation thickness through comparing the calculation results for different thicknesses. It is same for the length and width of the foundation. So the foundation thickness can only be fixed by considering vibration isolation efficiency, dynamic response and the real site information. For spring supported boiler feed pump foundation, the vibration isolation efficiency can be easily got, then the main work is for the foundation dynamic response. The theoretic analysis and finite-element analysis are validated by the measurements. For the application of the spring supported foundations, some more things are studied, the influence from different elements arrangements, foundation block design and substructure design. Through the analysis, hope it can help people know more about dynamic characters of spring supported boiler feed pump foundations, also for the harms caused by imagination.
