Electromagnetic pulse has an important role in both military and scientific purposes, such as in the free-electron laser, high-frequency microwave radiation, strong pulse neutron, aggregative ion accelerator and nuclear simulator Accelerator. Particularly, in military, electromagnetic pulse can be used as high energy microwave weapons. Such weapons can block or destroy the radio, radar, computer and even electric power systems via electromagnetic radiation, in these ways, destroy enemy's C3I systems. The method producing high power electromagnetic pulse falls into two categories: First, directly from the nuclear explosion; Second, producing high power electromagnetic pulse in non-nuclear method. For example, produce electromagnetic pulse from transforming the explosion energy of chemical explosive into electromagnetic energy. Because of the huge damage of nuclear explosion, people focus on the electromagnetic pulse in non-nuclear method.Explosive magnetic generator of frequency (EMGF) is one kind of the electromagnetic pulse generators in non-nuclear way. In this work, we mainly studied on the principle of EMCF. Firstly, analyzed the characteristics of generator work current, affected by forms of the inductance decreasing, divided the changes into three forms: decreasing linearly, slow-fast and fast-slow. Compared with the linear changes, the form of decreasing first slowly and then fast, just slightly elevated current magnification and the center frequency. But the first fast and then slow variations increase the current magnification, the center frequency and coverage significantly. We also studied the coil material design, analyzed the characteristics of generator, affecting by the choices of wire material. Secondly, because the rate of inductance changes can affect the work current dramatically, we have to introduce inductance calculation and coil winding in theoretical study and practical work. This paper presents the formula of time-changes inductance and the coil winding formula in explosion process, we can calculate the inductance according to wire space, can also design the method of winding according to the forms of inductance. We studied the choices of support material for the coil and the insulation gas choices. Finally, the expansion of metal cylinder directly caused the inductance decreasing, therefore study on the moving of metal cylinder in explosion has become very necessary, we focus on the speed of metal cylinder, expansion angels and material selection of metal cylinder, we analyzed the fracture mechanism of metal cylinde by observing the fragment fracture.
