Although as a country of bicycle's manufacturing and using in large scale, it's obvious for our country that the consideration on bicycle transportation in urban planning is not enough yet. Now the Bicycle transportation is still in inconvenient condition in most cities of our country.Bicycle is the main traffic mode in most of our cities, and the mixed traffic flow of vehicles and bicycles are the special phenomenon in our urban traffic, include Harbin. Therefore it is the key of improving Harbin traffic conditions to solve the problems coming with the mixed traffic flow. However, by far there is little research on the traffic design and control of bicycles in our country. This thesis is established based on this background.The research status of bicycles in china and abroad especially in Harbin is reviewed firstly to confirm the orientation and emphases of this thesis. Then, the condition of bicycle's development in Harbin is summarized. Consequently, the deep discussion about the problems deriving from Harbin bicycle traffic is made. At last, though detailed analyze of the transportation characteristics of Harbin's bicycle, the bicycle flow model is established and from applying it the bicycle capacitor model is got. All above are the bases of the research on theory Harbin's bicycle network planning.In the aspect of Harbin's bicycle network planning, this thesis referred to the experience of the abroad, trying to change the traditional planning programming of Harbin's bicycle system planning. It gives a method to establish the reasonable bicycle transportation network with moderate developing principle, in order to achieve the real separation of motor vehicles and bicycles so that the traffic flow can be organized effectively. For more, a practice in the area within second ring of Harbin is made in order to offer a new idea for establishing Harbin a bicycle network.Harbin bicycle transportation network should have not only bike-paths at different levels, also the nodes in the network, that is the parking lot and the transference, which is a complete bicycle network system. The nodes of Harbin mentioned above are studied at the end of this thesis.
