With the constructions of highways, the geologic hazards occur frequently.Especially in complex geological regions, slope problems is more liable to occur in building highways. Therefore, the rock slope stability of highways will directly affect the safety of the highway line people's lives and properties. Influence factors of slope stability and stability calculate methods are very abundant, It's an important task to confirm relations among the influence factors, to treat the slope effectively and to evaluate the stability and progress trend.By reading a lot of literatures, in the paper, the achievements of the Institute on the highway slope stability analysis in recent years are summed up.Through comprehending slope information and knowledge relevant norms,the types of slope in the system are divided, at the same time, slope damage types and factors affecting the stability of the slope has system atically summarized and concluded, and then various highway slope stability analysis method has been briefly reviewed.In this paper, the research such as the theoretical system, the mechanical concepts, practical applications on the finite element strength reduction are made.Finite Element strength reduction integrated finite element method, elastic-plastic analysis and the advantages of technology strength reduction, we will consider the complex topography, geology and geotechnical conditions of the nonlinear constitutive relations, as well as deformation on the impact of stress, slope instability can be used to simulate the process and search out the location of slip surface, but also in solving the slope safety factor also assumed that no slip surface shapes. Compared with the traditional method, strength reduction finite element analysis method has obvious advantages.In this paper, the Taigan highway Cutting high slope for engineering background, considering the non-linear characteristics of geotechnical slope, the influence of atmospheric precipitation change geotechnical slope indicators on the physical properties of slope stability, by reducing material strength Reserve safety factor of the slope ,FEM strength reduction of the slope instability process is simulated.
