Due to the improvement of heat dissipation structure of LED, the power rating per tube and output luminous flux per watt have been dramatically increased. LED featured for its long lifetime, wide color spectrum, no harmful beam, friend to environment and high-speed switch. It is a very promising light source for projection system, which is in favor of the development of rear projection TV based on micro-display technology. DLP technology is a unique solution which applied phonics semiconductor to generate digital multi-source display. The high-speed switch ability of DLP takes full advantage of newly developed LED color. It implements multi-color configuration through single DMD equipment and gets greater flexibility. LED requires no polarization but only the precise reflection of light from DMD mirror. Light can be demand-controlled with very high efficiency, which maximized the illumination and system efficiency and reduced the heat emission. The lower system cost, improved illumination and widen generated controllable color gamut are much outperformed than the traditional system with common light source. This article mainly focused on the solution of FPGA module control problem for the DLP light machine system based on LED light source. FPGA control module was added into the existing DDP3021 chip system. This module implemented four major functions: the control-drive for LED emission, the control of AD to DA conversion, the control for SPI interface and color gamut monitor and regulation . By adding the communications between these four functional modules, the time sequence of LED emission is controlled dynamically for steady LED color, high system resolution, well-distributed screen, sharp display and more stable performance.
