This paper firstly introduces the principle of optical fiber communication system and present situation, besides, it includes commonly used SDH op-synchronous digital transmission network in electric power network..Then it explains in detail the principle of various ways of protection in SDH looped network. According to communicative characteristic of electric system, along with the reality of Anshan area electric power telecommunication networks, it have done analysis respectively of the looped networks that are differently protected and of the characteristic, type of the business that they bear. Among them, priority is given to the analysis and calculation of the network delay, Bit Error Rate parameter of transfering electricity protection signal in Two-fiber one-way path protection rings and the deferred and replacing time of dispatching protection signal in Two-fiber multiplex two-way protection.Finally, the paper suggests the restricts that we should keep in mind when various ways of protection tranfers in SDH looped network .At the same time, suggests that the SDH looped network having certain scale of restricted node number and to ensure that the transferring delay of before and after the malfunctionof job passage should meet the request.
