As a pressure device with low mass flow, high pressure, vortex blower has been used in various industrial domains. For a long period, the method of studying it has been confined in the way of experiments for statistics and analysis, while the intricate flow condition cannot be reflected by the empirical formulas. The present CFD analysis primarily focuses on the entire blower, but not to research the detail flow in the blower. In this thesis, we simulate and analyze the flow in the single blade passage. The results are given as a reference for vortex blower's design calculation.First, the characteristics, the applied range, working mechanism and basic equation of vortex blower are introduced. A type of improved blower's design feature is illustrated and its working mechanism is also explained. We calculated the effect of pre-compression by the centrifugal blades installed in the blade wheel by CFD software. According to the results of calculation, this design has significant function to raise the total pressure of the vortex blower.Secondly, the numerical model of a backward bent blade passage with 15°is built, then we calculate and analyze the air's flow feature in the blade passage. The existence of lengthways and radial eddy is demonstrated and we firstly work out the volume of the compression by single blade passage. In addition, by the velocity triangle both on the inlet and outlet point, the periodical times the air flow in and out the between the blade and shell is calculated which is used to compute the total pressure of vortex with volume of compression by one periodic. Through comparing with the experimental result of like products, the numerical result by this method is fundamentally accurate and can be practically used.Finally, we calculated the effects of compression by different types of blades, and analyze the effect on the vortex blower's total pressure by number of blades, end clearance and clapboard's angle.
