Centrifugal blower is one kind of universal machinery which is used widely in industries, especially for the field of wastewater treatment, smelting of blast furnace, Chemical gasification, etc. It is of great significance to develop the method of design a high performance blower blade. An optimal method of centrifugal blower3D blade design based on velocity distribution control has been developed in this paper.The optimal design of the centrifugal blower3D blade based on velocity distribution control pay attention to the source of flow loss in impeller, such as controlling the growth of boundary layer, avoiding flow separation, restraining secondary flow and stratification effects, etc. By way of selection of the velocity distribution along the flow channel, the flow loss in impeller is reduced, and the aerodynamic performance is increased. In this paper, some flow control parameters, such as the maximum reduction ratio and its location of average velocity, maximum load factor and its location of the velocity of suction side, are used to represent the velocity distribution, one reason is that these flow control parameters directly relate to velocity distribution, on the other hand, once the velocity distribution along the flow channel is determined, the3D shape of the blade can be uniquely obtained by streamline curvature method. In order to optimize the3D blade, which has the better aerodynamic performance, the boundary layer calculation with consideration of the influence of blade rotation and curvature is adopted in this paper, and the momentum thickness of boundary layer is used to be the optimization criteria.According to the established3D blade optimal design method, the optimal design software is written and compiled based on the platform of Matlab. Through a large number of debugging, an example of3D blade is presented using this optimal method. The comparison of velocity distribution obtained by CFD with the optimal design show that new optimal design method reliable.
