With the development of economy, the urban traffic problem is becoming severe. The ultimate method to solving the traffic problem is public traffic. Railway transit has many advantages, such as great capacity and rapid speed, but is still limited by the disadvantages of high invest and long constructing period. The development of the traditional bus has being baffled because of its slow speed and bad service. The transportation characteristic of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is close to the Railway transit, but its cost is far below the Railway transit, so it is popularized to solve the traffic problem by the national engineering field. The appearance of BRT brings chance to solving the traffic problem in big cities of our country.In this paper, first, from the relationship of Bus Rapid Transit and urban traffic in accordance with the characteristics of China's cities, the relationship of Bus Rapid Transit and other public transport means was analysed. Then the paper proposed the status of Bus Rapid Transit network in the future urban public transportation system. And last an analysis made about the form of Bus Rapid Transit in different cities.Before selecting corridors for BRT operation. forecasting the passenger volumes in transit skeleton netvork is necessary. The traditional four stage method should be improved, and a combination model is established. According to BRT's feature the strategy for selecting BRT corridor is discussed. BRT's eiterior effect is also analyzed. And the concept of economic scale of BRT netwvork is set forward.BRT lines laid on the Corridor should be based on the Passenger flow toward after determining BRT Corridor. The characteristics of BRT's cabling and network of BRT are analyzed. In order to achieve optimization of the network structure, improving the efficiency of delivery of passenger flow the paper studies the methods how to use of genetic algorithms to make the BRT's cabling.Finally, according to the BRT characteristics, this paper establishes the principle of BRT network evaluation system, and put forward a more viable BRT network evaluation system. Then choose AHP—TOPSIS to establish evaluation and division mode.
