The main function of ATS is to supervise and control train running, also ATS can help train regulation workers to manage all the trains on line, so ATS system plays an important role at improving transport efficiency and ensuring train running safety.All along, system simulation technologies and the algorithm of automatic train regulation are both research hotspots of ATS, It is very important to the development of ATS system by setting up an ATS system simulation platform. 1) If we want to assess an ATS system truly and to train the workers conveniently, and also we should consider security for train running and economizer, we need an ATS simulation platform. 2) With the ATS simulation platform we can see the whole train running course. So we can study some key technologies such as the algorithm of automatic train regulation by that.In this paper, Firstly it introduces the conceptions and functions of automatic train supervision (ATS), also analyses its system functions, based on that analyses and discusses some crucial technologies of it in detail, such as time table management technology, the auto-generating of train running map, the algorithm of automatic train regulation and the auto-tracking of train ID numbers. Then it builds the use case diagram, the class diagram of the entire ATS simulation system and the state chart diagram, the sequence diagram of the key part of ATS simulation system using Unified Modeling language (UML), and designs the whole model and the integrated data structure, data dictionary of the ATS simulation system, also shows out the whole system function frame flow chart and the system running flow chart. Because ATS system has the typical characters of the discrete system, the paper uses the simulation methods of the discrete system to integrate the function models such as train status management model, train-routing search model, train running regulation model, train time table management model, commulation model and graph updating model of the ATS simulation system. Then it simulates a part of functions of the ATS simulation system with software VC++ 6.0 and database Access 2003.In the end, it is a summary of the entire paper, and at the same time it discusses the further study problems briefly.
