The spatial structure which full use its structural three-dimensional characteristic is one of the most significant development of constructions technology in 20th century. Spatial structure started from 60's in China since the 80's,spatial structure has obtained a big area promoting application in the industrial architecture, and further strengthened its popularization application. The Tensegrity system which belongs to the spatial structure domains the most front topic in the spatial structure nowadays, and have always attracted researchers and architects since its concept was proposed. The article based on the Tensegrity theory, put forward the struts contacting type Semi-Tensegrity system, and compared with the Tensegrity system on topological and mechanical analysis and so on. Attempted integrating Semi-Tensegrity domes using octahedron and hexahedron Semi-Tensegrity units, and mainly made research on two aspects: static analysis, construction analysis and design.1. Static analysis: There are various factors which influencing the Semi-Tensegrity domes, including structure itself geometry composition, external load and construction factor and so on. The geometry factor is very complex, involving the structural topological analysis, the ration of height and span, the gridding number on radial and round direction, the length of struts; The external factor include pre-stressed value, load mode, and construction method. The article made massive computations and analysis on the above questions with the non-linear finite element analysis program, and studied that how some factors such as the ration of height and span influencing performance of the Semi-Tensegrity domes, and has confirmed the superimposition analytic method.2. Construction analysis and design: The Semi-Tensegrity domes construction design includes three key aspects: the method of exerting pre-stress, the pre-stress value and the exerting order. The article has made the detailed elaboration and the analysis to the three question, then proposed two kinds construction orders that is from the inner rim to the outer rim or the other way round, as well as two kinds construction organization which is radial or round uniting the characteristic of the Semi-Tensegrity domes and using the actual projects for reference. Carry on the construction simulation with the finite element process, discovering a comparatively rational construction order. Based on the decided construction order, have done tensile force compensation analysis to optimize the dome's pre-stressed condition. Finally, based on the mechanical theory of time-varying, analyze the first rim of the Semi-Tensegrity dome.
