The iron stability problem in the drinking water distribution system has been focused more and more. The task constructs a mini network in a creative way and simulates the hydrodynamic and water quality condition of the drinking water distribution system and researches on the iron stability problem and the corrosion of the pipes by some analysis and tests.This article explains the corrosion status of pipes by the content of irons and analyse each water quality parameters'influence on the iron stability in the angle of corrosion.In the first stage, after monitoring the water quality of the mini network ,this article tests the content of the iron in the water sample, then the water quality status of mini network and the changing rule of each water quality parameters especially the content of iron are basically investigated. By using EXCEL to analyse the relativity of each water quality parameters data and the content of iron, some water quality parameters which is high relative with the changing rule of iron are confirmed as the studying object on the next stage.Afterward, in the second stage, the content of iron is researched on different condition by dosing chemical medicine and changing the hydrodynamic condition modulate the water quality parameters selected from the first experiment stage. Through analysis of results: keeping proper velocity of flow and increasing the free chlorine can control the iron stability.Finally, the conclusion that obtained from the mini network experiment is validated by the water quality parameters data of actual drinking water distribution system monitor experiment that processed at the same time. The result indicates that a majority of conclusion accord with the actual drinking water distribution system. It shows that the study on the iron stability problem and pipe corrosion in city drinking water distribution system has practical value and it can offer reference to control the iron stability problem.
