Power facilities are the important parts of life-line engineering and their anti-seismic research play an important role in the life-line engineering research. Structural vibration control is a new technology which has developed greatly in recent years. Vibration table test of boiler frame model are conducted in this study. According to the comparison of different passive control schemes, the control characteristic for boiler frame are analyzed. Also, the study analyzes the test model by FE simulation using ANSYS and campares the analytical results with test result. The paper mainly covers the following aspects:Firstly, the research developments of boiler frame and passive control technology are introduced.Secondly, magnetic friction damper, viscous damper and viscoelastic damper were designed, and the hysteretic curves for different dampers are plotted by performance experiments.Thirdly, passive control test for boiler frame model was conducted. The seismic response and the effect of vibration control are investiged by different combination and location of three different kinds of dampers. Movement peculiarity of suspensory boiler frame and the function of former guiding device are summarized. The suspensory install scheme of viscous damper is designed according to the movement peculiarity of suspensory boiler frame.Fourthly, FE model of boiler frame is established by using ANSYS. The FE model is proved to be reliable by comparing the seismic response results of FE analysis and test. Seismic response results of the FE model with three different kinds of dampers are also analyzed by simulating such dampers with ANSYS.
