Study On Academic Dining Space Design

Dining Hall is used extremely frequently by students as one of important types of buildings in the campus. The functionality of Dining Hall gradually evolves to diversity and compound along with the vigorous development of academic space plans. The multifunctional diet service center comes out with the collection of dining, entertainment, leisure and shopping. This article launches the research in light of this.The author collected the massive related literature, books, periodical and papers; visited a lot of academic dining halls. Based on this, the author summarized the main problems existed in the present academic Dining Halls; analyzed the evolvement and factors of it; introduced the characteristics and styles of its architectural space and then prospected the trend of academic Dining Hall.This paper is focus on the research of how to satisfy the requirement of campus students in functional and environment design of academic Dining Hall. For functional design, from the view of body-space, the assistance-space and the special space, author clarified the type change, the dimension and area index,the traffic organizing and the space combination design of main body space; the combination form of kitchen space, the design points of pantry and the trend of the function of kitchen; the industrial, entertainment and service function of the assistance-space. For environment design, author presented the principle, strategy and method of academic Ding Hall and then introduced the design tact for entrance space, semi-outer space, atrium space, communication space and outer space.Based on academic Ding Hall, this paper researched the functional and environment design and referred the experience and lessons of some of domestic universities to make the design more adaptable for the situation of China. At the same time, this paper can provide the guide and theory gist for construction and updating of academic Ding Hall。The main text of this thesis is approximately 62,000 characters and with more than 150 illustrations.
