SMW engineering method is a compound structure which is made up of soil-cement piles joined each other with the shaped steels inserted in them.In this paper, characters of SMW are studied deeply. It proves that the contribution of soil-cement to the intensity and rigidity of the compound structure is very small, but it restricts the lateral movement and enhances the integral stability of the shaped steel.The deformation character of soil mixing wall under the bending moment is analyzed. The formulas about internal forces and deformation of the reinforced soil-cement mixing wall under the allowing stress are proved as well, and the integral stability capacity formula has been proved. According to the results, design method of the soil mixing wall was put forward.The supporting capacity check formula in the non-reinforcement area has been inferred regarding to the first kind of retaining wall. It has a relation to the height of the section and the width of flange. The formula has been checked by the project example and thought initially it was reliable.In this paper, the construction process of the deep foundation excavation is simulated and analyzed using the software ANSYS. With the spatial finite element analysis, many factors, including the diameter of the soil-cement mixed piles and the space of the shaped steels, the cross-section of the bracing beams and the different construction schemes were studied.The analysis results show that investigation of the interaction between soil and structure and simulation of exvacation process are necessary in such complex problems. The optimized design and exvacation scheme are recommended according to the deformation and internal force criterion.The study result has guiding significance for projects. The optimized scheme realizes a technical economical effect.
