A train ferry transport is convenient and economical surface transport,it can make full use of water resources and has the characteristics of achieving direct transport and shorting the transport distance,greatly favor the cause of national transport.Yantai-Dalian train ferry is the world's first use of third-generation pod-electric propulsion system of the train ferry,and is the largest,most technologically advanced, best safety,and the best comfortable in current China.The advanced pod-electric propulsion system has brought such as the operation and management aspects.In the face of electric propulsion ferry's new technology and new equipment,marine engineering staffers of responsible for operational management,maintenance and repair of ferry are confronted with daunting challenges.Electric propulsion ships in service rarely,especially in the forefront of the electric propulsion pod-electric propulsion is a few more ships in China,marine engineering staffers has not accumulated an effective operation and management experience,and the current domestic ship electric propulsion technology research is still in its infancy stage,so there is no effective emergency plans to deal with the sudden failure of electric propulsion system.Researching and analyzing ferry's electric propulsion system running state can deepen their understanding of the electric propulsion system and lay a solid theoretical foundation for the eventual development of emergency plans;it also has very important practical significance for the safe operation of ferry.First of all,Yantai-Dalian train ferry's important strategic position and advanced technology is introduced and ships with pod electric propulsion and its' strongpoint is analyzed in this paper.Then the principle of frequency conversion timing system is studied;the structure and control mode of system are carried out in-depth analysis.The power module on ferry was demolished in kind,and the relational characteristic of IGBT in the power module is studied.This was followed by establishing mathematical models and analysis of the characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous motor in pod.The simulation of the speed response and torque response results proves that the motor has rapid dynamic response.In the end,the running state of frequency conversion timing system in standing by for leaving a port and speedup or slowdown is analyzed; the reasons for vulnerable devices damage and the common faults in the operation of system are analyzed.Some exploring research on ship electric propulsion system taking the Azipod as the thruster has been developed in this paper.Some experience has been accumulated by academic analysis and a lot of practice.This paper is the base of further research about this subject.
