The maximal difference between modern electric propulsion technology and early electric propulsion is building Integrated Power System(IPS). IPS melts together the advanced numerical control technology, network technology and the new develop of drive and electric machinery area. International ship building and maritime companies have paid great attentions to IPS. As the development tendency of marine electrical propulsion, podded electrical propulsion have been widely applied abroad owing to its excellent characteristics. However, as more and more ships into the use of electric propulsion, power station on the new management of the issue has become increasingly obvious lack of talent, and the training management personnel have also been put on the agenda, the domestic resources of this area of education also not adequate.This paper is composed of six chapters. Chapter. 1 introduces the project background, including the conception and history of the electrical propulsion system.Chapter.2 introduces the structure of the ship electrical device. Chapter.3 analyze the structure of the marine electrical propulsion system, including the advantage and disadvantage. Chapter.4 tells the principle of electrical propulsion system. Chapter.5 introduces and simulates the operation of PMS, including the way and object of the simulation. Chapter.6 summarizes the thesis and present prospect to come up with the key technology of electrical propulsion system in the future.The author refers to lots of literatures and datum on Internet, observe and study on board, understands the structure and operation process of the IPS podded propulsion. The thesis introduces the conception of the electrical propulsion system of ship firstly, and analyses the structure and characteristic of the IPS in detail. By comparing with the traditional ship, the paper presents that the electrical propulsion is the main development direction in the future. At last, under the surrounding of Windows, by using visual software Visual Basic, the author simulates the entire screw's day-to-day operation of the Yantai-Dalian train ferry. May it contribute to the screw training of electrical propulsion ship.
