With the promotions of channel capacity and navigation benefit in Three Gorges reach, it needs more technology means to strengthen the process monitor and enhance the pre-control capability and quick disposal ability to danger conditions in order to ensure the safety of increasingly busy waterway in Three Gorges dam region.Because of the complex terrain structure and the water level which can arrival at 113m caused by the Three Gorges Dam, ships need to climb this water level by the Three Gorges Permanent Lock which was designed as bidirectional and five-grade model. So this paper does application research and development on Digital Three Gorges and 3D lockage according to the characteristics of Three Gorges dam region, it could provide basic scenes and technical support for 3D digital waterway in Three Gorges dam region. In order to reconstruct 3D waterway environment and channel application based on real 3D data, the main work of this paper includes:(1) The 3D spatial virtual scene data of Three Gorges dam region has been finished by using mature 3D GIS technology, and the 3D model of lockage has being researthed.(2) The build of Digital Three Gorges has been generated from many aspects such as the creation, disposal, management, visualization and analysis application etc.of channel data, and completed by applying 3D GIS comprehensive application system which is achieved by ActiveB3D control that based on component technology.(3) Combined with the build of Digital Three Gorges, the whole process real-time dynamic 3D display of ship-crossing procedure has been primarily developed by doing secondary development to 3D GIS comprehensive application system in Visual C++ environment.
