The development of cooling towers has a long history. With the development of industry, the cooling towers vary numerically. Lots of cooling towers bring strong noise when they are working; As a result, people feel very annoyance in their daily life. In recent years, many researchers have taken their many efforts to reduce the noise. Under their research and experience, we have summarized many theories of and successful experience of reducing noise, also acquiesced many useful achievements.In view of this case, the paper mainly studies radiation sound field of cooling towers, acoustics structure characteristic, the way to control the noise radiated by cooling towers and the influence of the noise control on the capability of cooling towers. The details were showed as follows:(1) Base on the in-depth studies of the noise resources, we have analyzed the primary reasons of the noise radiated by cooling towers. According to the characters of different noise resources, we have put forward the relevant and effective noise control scheme, also optimized the scheme constantly. We insure that the whole noise control of cooling towers won't bring ill infection in cooling towers' normal work.(2) Large-scale and table-flap muffler. The ventilator radiated noise is the major noise resources of cooling towers. We have utilized the large-scale and table-flap muffler to control noise in this part. It will achieve the anticipative purpose.(3) The noise radiated from cooling towers have large channel characteristic. There is only one sound-absorbing material in compounding sound-absorbing structure which is existed. It's not applicable to large channel noise. Compounding sound-absorbing structure for large channel noise is put forward in this paper. The sound-absorbing channel can be increased; absorbing coefficient can be obtained by using this structure.(4) Noise control of the noise source before and after a sound field analysis. Using finite element analysis software and harmony software, Compare the differences between the fore-and-aft sound fields. It's practically proved that the noise control scheme of cooling tower in paper is effective to reduce noise, it's thoroughly feasible.(5) Analyzing the influence of the noise control scheme brought forward in paper on the cooling capability of cooling towers. By calculating and comparing the variation of temperature in noise control fore-and-aft, we testify that the influence of noise control scheme in paper on capability of cooling towers is very tiny. The whole scheme satisfies the demand. A much practicality value can be gotten in noise control scheme of cooling towers.
