With the advancement of technology and development of economic, the reform of power grid is deepening continuously. The monitoring and control area of power grid has extended from power substation and high-medium voltage distribution lines to low voltage customers. The traditional data acquisition and management of distribution network increasing unable to meet the requirements, distribution system automation has become an inevitable trend. Communication system is a very important part of the distribution automation system and it supplies the data that automation system need, to improve the performance of the communication system plays an important role in the QoS improvement of distribution automation system.Based on the current domestic distribution automation research, according to the requirements of distribution automatic data acquisition and processing system of Guangzhou Keli company, this paper designed a distribution communication system using multilayer server architecture. The system has"communication server"and"front-end computer"secondary structure. Designed and implemented a configurable periodic task scheduling algorithm in the communication server. In the front-end computer, via the using of Windows IOCP and its optimization, the load capacity is greatly enhanced. In the design process, modular-design method was used, this made the front-end computer has the expansion of multi-protocol and multi-communication types. So the application domain of the communication platform is very extensive.
