Distribution automation communication network design plays a vital role in the distribution automation system, communication modes are complicated. The implement of remote data acquisition,remote control, fault location and isolation, load transfer functions depends on the communication system between the terminal equipment and the main station. It may adapt to some systems, but it does not work well in other systems. Or two modes can be applied in the same distribution system. But in order to balance the economy, the best communication is not selected. The basic theory and specific conditions consideration must be taken into consideration. The main contents of the dissertation are as follows:1. Communication is broadly divided into cable transmission communication and the wireless communication. The paper analyzes the two different modes of communication.It summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the different means of communication: Fiber cost is getting lower. The use of Fiber is frequently. The attenuation of DLC technology is large. It is still in an experimental stage.Digital radio is widely used in load control system and urban lighting systems. Based on power lines,spread spectrum communication own strong anti-interference and good prospects.2. In this paper, fiber communication system is studied thoroughly. The characteristics, features, and embodiments of fiber communication systems are made specifically plans. GPRS technology is applied in communication mode. GPRS technology is also described. It can be used in remote, small amount of data,the data receiving emits high frequency of distribution automation system.3. According to the above related art, the paper combined with the actual situation of Tai Zhou power company and analyzed the problems and deficiencies that currently exist for Tai Zhou power company distribution automation communication,which provides a grand blueprint for the development of Tai Zhou Power Supply Bureau DAS. And combined with my own work experience, the paper introduces the Tai Zhou domain with electric communication network reconstruction project.4. The future development of distribution automation is summarized in improving distribution automation process, we must introduce advanced communication. It is achieved from the mode analysis that, the most superior combination of advanced practical communication modes should be selected from the comprehensive economical and technical indices.
