Because Lithium-ion battery has the advantages of high capacity, small size, light weight, high voltage, good cycle performance, and no memory effect, its application has seeped through to multi-fields of civilian and military. Battery production, research and development require high-performance test equipment. Due to over charge and over discharge will lead to lithium-ion battery damage, so the test equipment of Lithium-ion battery must have a high precision and stability.In this paper, the Lithium-ion battery performance parameters and many charge methods are analysed firstly, and then a Lithium-ion battery analysis and test instrument is developed. The system includes two kinds of test mode, which are cyclic voltammetry and constant current-constant voltage charge-discharge. It can be used for battery materials research and analysis in laboratory, also can be used to test lithium-ion battery products.The system uses serial D/A and A/D chips to simplify the connecting of hardware circuit, and uses 16 bits A/D to improve the sampling precision. On the one hand, PC computer can directly control the external circuit through the parallel port, which would draw curves in real time; on the other hand, PC can be used as master computer and through the serial port connected to the slave computer of the 51 singlechip, which control the external circuit, to satisfy the needs of many batteries's testing at one time.The PC software is programed in Visual C++ circumstance using MFC. It uses MSComm control to empolder the serial communication program, and uses event-driven quomodo to receive the data returned from singlechip. The test result data is stored in Excel documents, so user can be propitious to look, modife and carry out various other amendments. Double-buffering technique is used to eliminate flicker and improve the efficiency of curves drawing. The singlechip software is programed using C51 language, utilizes serial port interrupt to receive the order signals and testing parameters from PC, and adopts query to send state information and test result data.
