With the rising of oil shipment and the development of sea oil extraction. Oil spilling accidents have taken place every year. They damaged the ocean environment seriously. So many countries prepare special oil recovery ship in their ports to deal with oil spilling accidents on sea. Our country began to develop in this field in these years. As a country with long sea line, research of oil recovery ship has strategy meaning and application value for the development of marine engineering and the protection ocean environment.V type of oil recovery ship is a typical vessel of ocean oil recovery ship. The joint connector is the key part of this ship form. The design of joint connector directly influences the open degree which decides the oil collecting efficiency while the vessel is working. The credibility of joint connector also directly influences the security of the hull. If there is damage in the joint connector, the two hulls will have no transverse stability and sink. For the floating structure, fatigue damage in wave load is the most usually damage type.Based on the mission requirement of V type of oil recovery ship research, the joint key part of V type of floating oil recovery ship is studied in this paper. The regulation between motion of V type ship and operating condition of joint connector is researched in theory. On the condition of angle changing and load changing, founded the FEA model of joint connector and calculated the stress situation of the key part. In use of FEA results of strength analysis on the joint connector, fatigue life was calculated by MSC/Fatigue software in condition of part S-N curve and Miner linear damage accumulation theory. The whole research includes the strength problems and fatigue problems on the key part joint connector of V type floating oil recovery ship.The question for discussion in this article is practical in engineering and has important theory significance.
