With the rapid development of economic and increasing expansion of the city size, the energy problem becomed restraints imposed of society to the sustainable development and healthy development of all mankind. At the same time as the improvement of people's lives, the energy consumption of residential building was growing, which made saving energy of residential building be of great urgency in days of advocating the sustainable development. And interim ventilation could be not only bring down indoor temperature availably, but improve thermal comfort, decreased energy consumption of air-conditioning system. so, intermittent ventilation was highlighted for special attention.Starting from intermittent ventilation to bring down indoor temperature and decrease energy consumption of air-conditioning system as also as aiming at hot summer and cold winter areas. This paper analyzed selectively complex characteristics of climate of chongqing in this areas, brought forward validity and terminability to carry on intermittent ventilation, and showed ventilation tactics of various weather conditions.Secondly, The paper simulated indoor thermal environment and the energy consumption of one residential building different patterns. and the load characteristics and hours of air-condition of 50% of the energy-saving standards, 65% of the energy-saving standards , early construction and ect were given through dealing with the simulated result. The paper also showed characteristics of natural temperature indoor and energy consumption, and offered energy saving measures and rational ventilation number. Finally, The paper simulated same things of other several cities in hot summer and cold winter areas using the same model.Synchronously, experimental study was used in this article. And experiment tested several working condition of non-ventilation all the day, ventilation all the day and intermittent ventilation respectively under sunny weather and cloudy weather. the result showed intermittent ventilation could effectively improve indoor thermal comfort in sunny days ,however ,in cloudy days , ventilation all the day could maintain thermal comfort relatively.The paper summarized energy consumption characteristic of public building and brough forward effective energy conservation approach. The paper was importance for promoting energy conservation work; it had very important theory and project applying value.
