Recently, Intelligent Transportation System (TTS) is paid more and more attention, which is the application of advanced computer technology, communication technology, database technology and artificial intelligence. ITS covers a wide range of transportation systems, in which routing guidance system is an important application and one of hotspots of domestic ITS development and application at present. The relation is closed between the traffic information and geospatial data, and so it has a high practical significance to use the GIS technology in the transport field and to study the application of the GIS-T in the Traffic Routing Guidance System in order to solve traffic congestion, ensure traffic safety and improve efficiency in the use of the transport network.According to the realistic situation of current traffic development, the paper analyzes the system requirement and designs the system function. The technology based on the Components GIS, whose basic theory is to establish Object Model, realizes its powerful functions and is easy to enlarge the functions through interface calling the package function. The theory of object-oriented methods and the development of Component GIS technology are researched in this paper, and then the traffic geographic information data structure and data organization form is analyzed. According to the functions and features of DRGS, the Yuzhong Bandao electronic road network map is designed using MapX and its basic functions in DRGS are realized. Path optimization is the most basic function of GIS and one of the core functions of the Route Guidance System. Real-time route guidance imply the traffic state have timely change,vehicles travel routing plan with in dynamic routing guidance have not fixdness,it well take place change with the real-time traffic state change. Based on the analysis of Route Guidance Systems commonly using path optimization algorithm,this paper select the Heuristic Search algorithm - A * algorithm, which breaks through the limitations of the static shortest path algorithm, by adding a real-time traffic information in the model, making use of these real-time traffic information to forecast the network traffic state, and combining such real-time traffic information with the existing road network static information in the database, searching for the optimal path, ensures that the optimal path is closer to the real-time traffic conditions, and achieves guidance purpose, thereby improves the overall efficiency of the operation of the network. Using of real-time traffic information makes the path guidance with real-time and dynamic, which these features make path guidance more the objective reality of the state in line with the road network, and further increase the utility of system.Experimental results show that this application of the GIS-T in the Route Guidance System is feasible and have a certain extent practical value.
