As one type of modern space, commercial pedestrian mall is an important part of city pubic space. Further more, the external space of commercial buildings is a special branch of city open space, a vital part of city enviorment. It's the continuing space of commercial building, providing a site for citizens's communication, shopping, entertainment. It's a method that the plan and construction of large commercial external space for the completion of city's function and figuring.Domestic speaking, There is a rapid raising in large commercial plaza and commercial pedestrian for it's new appearance and advantage while they bring many questions in the same time. On the one hand, it solves the problem of the combination of shopping, lied-fallow and recreation, raising the level of people from the attachment to the main body. On the other hand, the shortage of exterior space design and the lack of research in behavior patterns limit the exertion and the completion of the function belong to commercial buildings'exterior space to some extent according to the condition reflected by our commercial buildings. The space is so large that make people be lacking in safety, field feel, isolating people from nature and making against the health of the old and the children, which will not enough in expressing the context and the features of city. Consenquently, research the characteristic of commercial buildings'space from the aspect of the need of people's psychology and behavior have become the vital point of the built for human use and the commercial buildings'exterior space in some requirements.This article give a detailed discussion about humanization and individuation design of space of modern commercial space on the basis of guide of the theory which including psychology, architecture, urban design and the example of successful commercial plaza and pedestrian mall. After the analysis of some existing example projects of successful shopping mall and walking street, combining my practice, I emphasize the principle and strategy of the design. There are 6 parts in this article.The first part: Introducion part. Providing the propose and meaning of the research after stating the reason and the background of the research.The second part: Defining the content and the range of the research in conceptive range.The third part. Analysing the space's feature and consist of commercial buildings in two ways: two-dimension and three-dimension, static state and dynamic state.The fourth part: Starting researching behavior pattern and psychology from the space of commercial buildings, take a inside look of users and the costmer's mind with the changes in modern commercial pattern from different consist of age, sex and behavior.The fifth part: Providing design strategy on external space of commercial buildings on the basis of conclusion of previous four chapters and the foundation of the research.The sixth part: Anlysing the strategy that provided in fifth part in some projects. Author has investigated many successful commercial buildings in domestic range, choosing two examples to have further study. What's more, author choose two examples of his own to state the design strategy of external space of commercial buildings.
