Motorcycle power performance and fuel economy are considered as the two of the most important performance indicators of motorcycles, which are the issue of greatest concern by the designers as well as the consumers. As the development of the national economy and transportation, energy supply is becoming increasingly in shortage, and how to reduce fuel consumption of motorcycle has become an urgent issue needed to be resolved for the motorcycles industry. Currently, motorcycle power and fuel economy researches that the majority of domestic enterprises carry on are confined to the use of simple formula for approximate prediction of the power performance, or in sample vehicle performance matching analysis using data acquired from real vehicles through a large number of tests. They were not only unable to budget for fuel economy, but also were unable to optimize and match motorcycles transmission parameters.At the beginning of this thesis, motorcycle power and fuel economy evaluation indicator is presented, subsystem models for power and fuel economy analysis are also established, such as models of engine full load and universal characteristics, and model of real road resistance. Thereafter, simulation methodology for motorcycle power and fuel economy is introduced.Later in this paper, the theoretical basis of matching for the motorcycle transmission parameters is addressed, and the effects on the motorcycle power and fuel economy are described in the aspects of engine characteristics and transmission parameters, in turn the parameter optimization model for transmission is established in accordance with the common driving conditions.In view of the current situation and the needs for motorcycle power and fuel economy, simulation software using MATLAB language for motorcycle power and fuel economy was produced with briefly introduction of usage.Through the simulation calculation and experiments on the 125 type motorcycle power and fuel economy, the simulation calculation using computer for the motorcycle power and fuel economy is testified as practicable and correct, as well as the models and optimization methods.
