Power curve is an important indicator to evaluate the performance of a wind Turbine. Measurement of power performance of wind turbine is not only an essential part of wind turbine type certification, but also it is used to verify the differences of the effective power output and the prediction power output, the wind turbine availability usage. And it is also the performance indicators of operation status. The methodology of measurement is studied and measurement scheme based on IEC standards is given in this thesis. The impacts of the power curve of wind turbine and the power output of wind farm were analyzed and studied.Virtual instrument(VI) is becoming a leading development direction of instrument after instrument has experienced analog instrument, digital instrument and intelligent instrument eras.VI, which combines computer science, bus technology, software engineering with measurement instrumentation technology, Utilize the computer's powerful digital process capability to realize main function of instrument. It breaks the mainframe of traditional instrument and forges a new instrument pattern. Now VI is in the ascendant. The wind turbine power performance analyzer is successfully developed with virtual instrument technology in the VMIDS development platform.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1) Presents the domestic and foreign development actuality of Power Performance Instrument and detects that VI is the leading development direction of Wind Turbine Measurement. So, we hold this opportunity and put forward this project to develop a Power Performance Instrument based on VI technology.(2) Study and research deeply VI's concept, hardware configuration and software architecture. Then introduce the development platform and approach. Visual C++ is used as the development environment and the virtual instrument intelligent control development model is selected.(3) IEC standards of wind turbine power performance testing are investigated and compared. The measurement scheme and equipments deployment based on IEC standards are proposed, respectively. Analyzing and amend the impactive factors of the power curve.(4) The methodology and procedure of wind farm power performance testing is studied. Then the equipments deployment and measurement scheme are presented. wind farm site assessment methods and processes are also researched.(5) Analyzing function requirement of Power Performance Instrument, then present its general hardware configuration and software outline. Then program its software by the hand of modularization design approach.This project is a successful application of VI in wind turbine measurement domain, which testifies that VI is an available and effective solution and can be employed to accomplish majority complicated measurement task.
