With the society progress and economy development, demand for electricity power increased rapidly and power network scale augmented gradually, at the same time, power cable network scale also enlarged synchronistically. The transitional management mode of city power cable could not fit to the development requirements. Proposed GIS based Power cable information system went out the traditional developing mode of power cable management system,converted from management of statistic data into management of spatial data,developed power cable management and decision-making on the base of combination of spatial data and attribute data, did spatial analysis and data digging based on the combination of spatial data and attribute data. Information and results of spatial analysis displayed in the ways like map, able and multiple-media though GIS visible function and shared on-line.This paper studied visible algorithm of spacial data and the shortest path algorithm, completed visible spacial data founction and shortest path founction. It alsointroduced basic concept of GIS and its development, also introduced present condition and developing trend of power cable system, overviewed the characteristic of SuperMap2000. The characteristic of power cable and its integrated methods were studied in this paper. Based on the geography methods, this paper studied power cable general characteristic and its integrated theory and methods, and then analyzed spatial data index and visible theory and methods, researched the power cable shortest algorithm and made improvement, discussed the theory of visible spatial data, accomplished visible algorithm of spacial data in GIS and completed analysis design and function of shortest path algorithm. With the system demand analysis, analysis and design of system function, system database design, spatial analysis and design of system and realization and improvement algorithm, developed system integration in Supermap2000 and Visual Basic 6.0.Completed system total design based on demanding analysis, proposed system developing project follow by principle of system total design and accomplished design of system total confguration and function modules. The resule of test run indicated this system reached the design requirement and run nomally.This paper studied the developing of COMGIS based power cable information system, offered an experience in exploration on power cable scientific management and decision-making.
