All sorts of complex and precise apparatuses, which are sensitive to power quality, are increasingly connecting to the power net, therefore customers demand much higher power quality for their apparatuses. In the power market, power supply departments must further assurance the power quality when sent power to customers reliably. The power quality has important impacts to the society, how to improve power quality to supply the customers with high-quality power has become a research focus both at home and abroad.With the rapid development of new technology, the sudden increase of loads, especially the incessant increase of nonlinear, impulsive and fluctuating loads, power quality problems often occur, such as harmonics, voltage sag, voltage fluctuation and flicker, unsymmetrical voltage, frequency deviation, etc. The declining of power quality effects severely to the production and lives of country and people. Power quality is a important index to electric power industry products, which relate to the all equity of power generating, power supply and customers, good power quality have important meanings for assurancing safe and economic operation of power net and electrical apparatuses, regular labor of every walk of life and increasing living quality of people.In this thesis, the reasons and harms of power quality declining are analyzed, several present methods and equipments for monitoring and improving power quality are introduced. The present status of power net structures and power quality of Lin Shui is researched, power quality such as harmonic, voltage fluctuation and flicker, etc. is measured and calculated. Based on that, measurements and control strategies are presented, which supplies important material and effective means to power net planning and power quality managements.Measuring precisely to the power quality is the fundament of improving power quality, so the power quality management system must be improved continuously. Appropriate compensation equipments can be used, Passive and Active Power Filter (PPF, APF), Static Var Compensator(SVC), Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) are researched focally in the paper. PPF and APF are used broadly in power system to reject harmonics effectively, which are used sophistically increasingly. Based on analyzing the working theory and characteristics of them, the reliability and effectiveness of using them to Linshui power network is researched. And against to the voltage fluctuation and flicker, simulation system is setup, by Linshui substantion and calculating the simulation results, the good compensation effect of STATCOM is approved.
