Harmonic, produced by the large power converter equipment named harmonic source and other nonlinear loads, not only increases power loss of the power system which resulting in damage to the equipment, but also interferes the normal operation of the protector and automatic equipment. Harmonic is the main reason for the damage of power grid. With the improve of industrial production level and the living standards of the people, a lot of non-linear electrical equipments are used in the power network, resulting in a growing proportion of power network harmonic source. The hazard of Power system harmonics draws attention of different departments. Effective tests and treatments must be carried out for the quality of power supply.This paper presents a treatment plan for the10KV harmonic, taken example with a model factory. The main equipments of this factory consume massive reactive power and produce large number of harmonic, which causes serious contamination of the power system, severe voltage distortion and interference of the normal operation of the other equipments. This paper briefly analyses what causes the harmonic and its harm in this factory.Through analyzing the causing and control plan of the harmonic, we establish a method to control and detect the harmonic, by taking comprehensive plans and the choice of suitable filter with theoretical calculations and discussion. The accomplishment of the plan and measures for eliminating harmonic has acquired better social benefits and economic benefits.
