Nowadays the working rotation speed of an aero-engine is more and more fast, and the working rotation speed of a rotor system is usually beyond the critical rotation speed. When the rotor's speed is close to the critical rotation speed or exceeds the critical rotation speed, big vibration will take place in the system. So an exterior damper is commonly introduced to reduce the vibration in a rotor system. The Squeeze Film Damper (SFD) offers the advantages of small volume, as well as high ability in dissipating vibration energy and high reliability, so that it is widely used in the industry of aero-engine. At present, there is collectivity design method of SFD in the country, but several main parameters of the SFD are still obtained by the meaning of trying. And there is not a specific criterion for selecting parameters of the SFD. We have finished the following work based on some type of aero-engine.1. Basing on existing designing method of the vibration platform, we have ameliorated the dynamic characteristic laboratory platform of the SFD, and a nicer platform has also been provided.2. A number of experiments on dynamic characteristic of the SFD have been done, which provides the parameters of the SFD to that type of aero-engine.3. Basing on the previous theoretical analysis, we did more deep analysis. Applying the Run-down method and dichotomy, we program the computer by C++ to calculate the SFD, and the results have been compared to those results coming from experimentation. The following are the conclusions.(1) When small load is acted on the bearings, the long bearing theory should be adopted, and the results coming from calculations are close to the experiment results.(2) When big load is acted on the bearings, the experiment results are close to the results that are calculated on the theory of short bearing. (3) When the load is between the above two conditions, we can amend the results by weighted manner and the results are close to the experiment results.Above all, basing on some type of aero-engine we have studied and analyzed the dynamic characteristic of the SFD. And the results have theoretical significance and engineering applied significance on the designing and applying of SFD.
