In view of the national conditions, the medium-small scale naval vessel above water is mainly displacement type monohull, the displacement type monohull remains the most basic selected type of the vessel above water during future quite long period. But the normal medium-small scale displacement-type monohull is limited by its yardstick and ship type, it is worse to be able to bear waves, and the stall in wave is serious, which do not meet the demand of high sea fights and sails safely.In this paper, a plan used to control the longitudinal motions of ships will be chosen for a new type 4000t deep-v hybrid monohull, its effect will be confirmed with the test results. Finally, a ship featured a semi-submerged bow with the fins is chosen from many kinds of plan. The Stabilizing Built-up Appendage is applied to the ship with the type 4000 tonnage is probed into.The model experimental results have confirmed that the Built-up Stabilizing Appendage is able to reduce pitching, heaving motions and especially bow acceleration considerably. The test results show that the resistance of the deep-v hybrid monohull is close to the ordinary deep-v ship. The regular wave and the irregular wave experiments shows that the built-up appendage is very effective to stabilize the longitudinal motion, and in the routine speed range, the higher efficiency about the built-up appendage the higher speed about the ship. The ship with the built-up appendage shows higher resistance performance in waves and is with smoother motion than that without the built-up appendage in spite of sea state high or lower.By considerating all the aspects and comparing with the model experimental results of many plans, a plan which relatively better is chosen, it satisfies both sea-keeping performance and resistance. The new kind of Built-up Stabilizing Appendage has the value of being used in engineering, and it also provides new approach to develop high performance hybrid monohull in the future, so that we can have the best general navigational capabilities.
