In the era calling for energy-saving, environmental protection, and sustainable development, the Green energy-saving technologies (GEST) are playing more and more significant roles in the old building reconstruction. At the beginning this article outlines the concept of Green energy-saving technology, specifying the study area of the energy-saving reconstruction for preexistent buildings. After analyzing the energy-consumption composition of preexistent buildings in our country, I classify GEST applicable to building reconstruction into five categories: GEST for retaining structures, GEST for architectural space, GEST for building energy system and appliance, GEST for architectural-environment controlling system and reproducible energy utilization, then address and discuss in detail the reconstruction of retaining structure, the reconstruction of architectural space and the reconstruction of architectural equipment, in which each aspect stands alone as a chapter. This discussion incorporates outstanding cases in other countries in the hope of providing references to pertaining studies in our country. The first chapter addresses development and application of GEST, analyzing the energy-consumption composition of buildings in our country, making GEST classifications, and outlining its application in building reconstruction. The second chapter expands the discussion of the application of GEST in retaining structure reconstruction in terms of the reconstruction of outer walls, doors and windows, sun-screening, room surface and transitional space. The third chapter studies the application of GEST in architectural space. The fourth chapter probes into the green energy-saving reconstruction of architectural equipment, mainly the reconstruction of the ventilating system and lighting system. As the advance of GEST, it's bound to benefit the architecture in greater depth and extent.
