Due to its high transfer efficiency, low cost and easiness to manufacture, Automated Mechanical Transmission has a high status in the family of Automatic transmission. It is an automatic transmission which fits the reality of development of automobile industry in China and has broad prospects of manufacture and wide applications. Although a good deal of study has been done on AMT, there are still many problems due to the characteristic of AMT and complexity of technology, such as automatic adaptive faculty to complicated and volatile environment and different driving intention during startup and shift. The key drive and clutch control problem is studied in theory.The demand of control process at startup is smooth and the life of clutch to ensure that the slide started grinding to a small gong, but both of evaluation is contradictory, which is difficult to give the best clutch engagement regulation. On ALL Terrain Vehicles, the traffic environment is special. The sandy is belong to soft and the adhesion is relatively small. It will bring slip at the startup. So the control of clutch required a new type method.The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:1. Setting up the model between sandy and ALL Terrain Vehicles and simplified the model, then come to the driving torque and traction. Sand parameters is linked the started driving torque. So it can elicit the resistance torque.2. Making the analysis of the clutch engagement process, first is the startup conditions and put forward the demand; second is the study of all the phases in the clutch engagement and ensure the control regulation of the clutch; in the clutch control system of the best engagement regulation, the control object is executing organization , and the implementing agencies are the input clutch engagement and engage velocity, so the theory is analysis the affect of engage velocity such as the pedal opening, throttle opening, engine speed, middle-axis rotation speed, the clutch driven speed and main check, then required the control parameters.3. Comparing the method of commonly control (PID,adaptive control,fuzzy control) so as to get the control method. In this paper, it designs a fuzzy control of the clutch engage. This strategy is divided into two tiers. Fist ensure the intention of the driver due to the throttle opening and the rate of change of throttle opening; second control the engagement speed of clutch owed to intention and dispatch between the main and driven plate.4. Setting up the model such as engine model, clutch model, tire model, fuzzy control model in the Matlab/simulink and simulation the different intention of the driver, the result is that the fuzzy control strategy can rightly reflect the intention of the driver, successfully achieve clutch engagement, reduce the impact and reach the desired results.This paper is a starting AMT ATV control method to study, the control of clutch AMT is difficult control technology, and special vehicles for beach driving environment (the sand), the adhesion of smaller, if the fast start will lead to roller. Referred to these two issues, a fuzzy control method is putted forward. The drive intention, the main driven plate speed difference and the slip ratio are inputted to design the beach vehicle starting clutch control. The results show that this control strategy to accurately reflect the requirements of the driver's starting to realize the smooth clutch engagement, reducing the impact of degrees and achieving the desired results.
