Elevator is closely related to human beings nowadays. Motor used in elevator drive system is a vital part of the complex mechanical and electrical integration device. It is also the key to measure technical norms of an elevator.As the gearless tractive motor in elevator drive system, permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has many marked advantages, especially high efficiency, low mechanical noise, low torque ripple, fast dynamic response, high power density, etc.. According to the design features of PMSM used in gearless machine-roomless elevator, this thesis designed a PMSM of 3 phases, 40 poles, 220V, 44.7Hz, 11.7kw and employed id=0 vector control method into PMSM simulation. Results meet requirements of elevator driving motor.In motor design aspect, as for the particularities of the elevator, this design put forward an external rotor, multi-polar, fractional slot windings and flat structure. Then, this thesis calculated and analyzed the operating characteristics of the motor.In motor electromagnetic field calculation, this study applied finite element method(FEM) into no-load magnetic field analysis of PMSM. For magnetic circuit of surface and radical structure, using finite element software calculated no-load back electromotive force(back B.E.F.), no-load leakage coefficient and calculating pole-arc coefficient. This study adopted field-circuit method to calculate direct axis and quadrature axis reactance meanwhile analyzed stable state operating performance of the PMSM with an electromagnetic design software and obtained curves of stable state operating performance(efficiency, power factor, current, etc.) to output power(P2).This thesis adopted id=0 vector control method and sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) to the PMSM modeling and simulation in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation results betray the motor designed in this thesis meets requirements of elevator driving motor and verifies the feasibility and accuracy of the design.
