The control valve has been widely applied to chemical industry , petroleum , metallurgy,electricity,light industry, water conservation,shipping,aviation and so on. It is not only the key control components in fluid carrying system but also the main components for energy loss. So, to research the property of control valve is tremendously significant to reducing energy loss and improving energy efficiency.Control valve has a variety of patterns and has great difference in the inner structure. Its inner shape and flow state is complex. The study of hydraulic characteristic is mainly experimental investigation and it has the disadvantage of high-cost,long periodic and hindering the development of new products. With the rapid development of computer and CFD technology, the advantage of CFD numerical simulation is more obvious: it can display the internal flow field in detail,low research cost, short period and easy to optimum design. So, CFD numerical calculation has been applied in the valve design.This paper analyzes the internal 3D viscous flow field inside the 2-way control valve and the balance valve by the application of fluid dynamic mechanics and its related theory with the commercial CFD software, the flow status was obtained. It includes the flow velocity distribution, the pressure distribution, the streamline , the swirl, the secondary flow and so on. Then it analyze the relation of pressure drop and flow, flow characteristic and resistance coefficient. By comparing the calculated value and the experiment value, it is proved that CFD is effective in the flow analysis of control valve. Aim at the problem of big resistance of valve body; put forward several structure improvement schemes. By contrasting and analyzing the resistance coefficient and economy, ideal runner structure is obtained. It can provide theory basic for designing the control valve that has high efficiency and low energy loss. At the same time, it can offer reference and guide foundation for structural improvement of the other type of valve.
