The growing competition in the market makes the speed of product development is increasingly becoming the most challenging factor,but our traditional construction machinery industry is lack of competitiveness and serious aging because of long development cycle of new products and high costs.In order to improve the traditional engineering product design process,this dissertation presents and studies the approach of the new powerful CAD-technology "Virtual Prototype(VP)".Especially the technique is applied in the field of excavator design.This article's content is the following.First of all is the brief presentation of the basic theory frame of the Virtual Prototype,then review the significance and development of VP technology in China and aboard.Also demonstrates the importance that apply the VP technology to the design process of excavator.This dissertation also gives the method to build the virtual excavator prototype.The VP is composed of simulation models of subsystems.The virtual prototyping processes are based on the cooperation of experts from different disciplines and then the final integration of modules from these concurrent tasks.Researched the simulation principle of the system,especially of the method to build mechanical model.Build the composition of excavator according to the theories of multidisciplinary and related software.The mechanical system of excavator is build in SolidWorks and ADAMS.We get the work scope of excavator and some special data through simulation the system in ADAMS/View.Furthermore,we could get the force of different joints through analyzing the excavator while digging.This data is the base for strength analysis of parts.For many years,people often take the static strength as the main criteria when design machinery,but sometimes may bring on conservative design.So we established the 3-D finite element model in different conditions of working device of excavator by ANSYS,then take modal analysis to the working device.Final we get the model parameters about the working device which have reinforced plate and do not,also in this two situations we discussed the effect on installation-type and frequency about working device,increased the stiffness of it and improved the work force in the device.
