In order to improve the traditional engineering product design process , this dissertation presents and studies the approach of the new powerful CAD-technology Virtual Prototype(VP),Especially , the technique is applied in the field of excavator design to satisfy the marker competition requirement of construction engineering enterprise. There are five parts be presented and studied in this paper.First of all is the brief presentation of the basic theory in China and aboard are also related. Chapter 1 demonstrates that the VP technology is the only way to improve the traditional excavator design process.Establishing the parametric entity model of the operator of the hydraulic excavator after analyzing the constraints and dimension-parameters. Establishing the communication between the entity model and the output of the generalized optimization system so that the output can be used to drive the model. Linking machine design to the generalized optimization system so as to provide possibilities to realize design of series products quickly.Based on the parametrical models, establishing kinematics models and FEA(finite element analysis) models. They are expected to be used in kinematics emulate and finite element analysis. The thesis also gives recapitulation and summary of the using technique and development experience of Pro/E. It has value to be referenced in the coming correlation researching.
