The hydraulic Excavator is a kind of important construction machinery. Owing to the more and more completed market, using the new method to research a high performance and reliability hydraulic excavator is significant. But in our country, because of the old designing method, high cost resulting new product research & development period. So the homemade excavator has no advantage in market competition compare with oversea excavator. Now along with the technical of virtual prototype gradual maturity, we could use it in designing excavator and the questions above mentioned can be solved easily.This paper elaborated about the technical of virtual prototype research condition, trended about domestic and oversea technology, and gave the necessary significance to use the technical of virtual prototype in designing hydraulic excavator. Based on the study of movement about hydraulic excavator's working equipment, according to drawing of the trial-produce, the study set up the 3D (Three Dimensional) model about a homemade 220 Hydraulic Excavator Working Equipment, in the end found an excavator virtual prototype using the Pro/E software. The paper also gave a method on how to use the 3D model to imitate the dynamic simulation, to analyse the kinematics of working equipment, check interfering and validate the validity of excavator virtual prototype.Through the MECH/PRO module, this paper set up the 3D model system and used the analysis software ADAMS to analyze the movement of the excavator working equipment. After this, author obtains the main dimensions and the drawing of working range about the excavator, and validates the validity of working cycle time etc. According to the analysis of the resistance of the bucket's tooth, this paper gave the analysis dynamics of the whole excavator and calculated all forces of each joint and provided parameter for analysis of the structure characteristic.
