Research On The Relationship Of Expressway Transit Mode And Urban Form

The expressway construction is not only the driven force of the city development in space, but also the bridge linked the city with its surroundings area. The prevalent city enlargement resulted from civilization acceleration makes the city space change more obviously. Fundamentally, the expressway transit mode is the guide of the development of city urban form. At the same time, the development of city urban form is also limited by the expressway transit mode.First the concept and classification of urban form and expressway transit mode are introduced. Then the interaction between the cities and expressway are analyzed. It includes the expressway transit mode impact on the urban form and the urban form impact on the choice of expressway transit mode. Then the paper proposes that the research on expressway transit mode should be combined of the sustainable development research of urban form. Aimed to the five main styles of urban form, the expressway transit mode influence for land layout and functional distribution of different type cities are discussed in details.With comprehensive planning of every city in Hubei province, the urban form of sixteen cities in Hubei Province are classified, and choosing expressway transit mode in different urban form is analyzed. Also the coordinate developing relationship between expressway transit mode and urban form is analyzed. As for the expressway transit mode in the city expansion, it is proposed in the paper that the expressway transit mode should be adjusted for optimization to ensure the city sustainable development and to be suit as the guidance of the development of city urban form.Finally the paper applies the conclusion in the expressway transit planning of Wuhan City. According to the comprehensive planning of Wuhan, the urban form is analyzed and the proper expressway transit mode is proposed.
