This study aims to know the impact of urban expansion on public transportation in Amman, through several comparisons made using the elements of urban form, through the adoption of a descriptive-analytical approach to collect data and statistics related to the urban aspect and public transport to determine the relationship between urban expansion and public transport. As well as a quantitative analytical approach using the Pearson correlation coefficient to assess the relationship between population density and public transport density.Arc GIS has been used to map the transit routes.Analyzed urban form elements in Amman show that the spatial structure in Amman conforms to the urban area which has been diffused from the central core and has begun to diverge in four directions and forms at the end the random form of expansion. And the comparison results found that the impact of random expansion(cumulative expansion in the central area of Amman and multi-core expansion in the new areas)on the public transport network led to its formation as a radial form and concentrated in a set of points at the nucleus of the old Amman, and proceeds in a line to the multi-core areas, and this linear form does not serve those who do not fall on the lines and therefore does not cover residential areas which extend along the main lines. The results also showed that the highest population density was recorded in the central region of Amman, which also had the highest transport network density, and that the northern region had the second-highest population density, but the third in the transport network density, indicating a lack of public transport services in the region. The relationship between the population density of the region and the density of the public transport network in the Pearson coefficient analysis showed a positive correlation of approximately 0.99 at a confidence level of 99 per cent. The comparison between the central area(Zahran)and the sub-urban area(Naour)has shown that the density of the public transport network in Zahran is 3.6449,which is within the acceptable limit in the central regions and give a good indicator of the service coverage. And the transport network density in Naour is 0.2011,which is much lower than the acceptable limit and reflects the lack of coverage of public transport in the region.Recommendations for future work that improve the performance of urban growth regulation along with the regulation of public transport development are proposed at the end of the study.
