With the development of power-electronics, micro-electronics, modern control theory and material science, the AC adjustable-speed system and integrated electro-mechanics technology become more and more important and have a wide application. How to model and simulate these systems numerically is becoming a new task with great challenge. By using Matlab/Simulink tool, this paper presents a common principle and basic method set using simulation for so-called electro-mechanical dynamics.Firstly, the general steps of digital simulation of electro-mechanical system are introduced, including the transform of mathematical model to simulation model, the modeling methods based on Matab/Simulink, the algorithm selection, the evaluation of result, data processing and so on.Secondly, the mathematical models of the induction motor are founded, and a lot of simulation research based on Matlab is completed, such as the open-loop system, rotor field-oriented closed-loop control system and direct torque control system. Also, the control model and strategy for a variable speed constant frequency generator with an AC-excited wound rotor based on the stator field-oriented control is discussed, the necessary structure diagrams, algorithm, and results from simulation have been shown in this paper. The general rules on the simulation of electronic drive system are obtained by lots of simulation experiments. At last, according to the methods and rules presented above, modeling and simulating of salient-pole synchronous generator system, ALA rotor motor vector control system and square-wave brushless dc motor control system are accomplished. This work greatly proves the availability of the basic simulation principles and rules.
