With the construction of our national economy and the quick development of water conservancy,the research on hydrodynamic design and energy dissipation of the discharged building has been crucial problem.The article looks back the application and the development of the energy dissipation about sluice,because of the defect of energy dissipation by hydraulics jump, artifical roughness bed stilling basin was presented. Based on the research of the former work,systemic research on hydraulic characteristics of artificial roughenss bed stilling basin are carried out by method of academic analysis and model tests. It includes structural design, flow patterns,discharged capability, distribution of pressure and scour area. The principal content and achievement are concluded as followed:1. Based on the model tests of four schemes,the flow patterns and discharged capability have been known. After artifical roughness are used,the length behind hydraulic jump, stilling basin and the ridge's elevation are reduced.2. Hydraulic characteristics of the four schemes are compared by model tests. The velocity distributing is so homogeneous,fluctuating pressure is lessened,landform is as usual after the artifical roughness are built,that the energy dissipation effect is better.3. Artifical roughness bed stilling basin are proposed in this paper. The formulae for the length of the flow profile from the contraction section to the hydraulic jump and the sequent depth ratio for the hydraulic jump in the channel with artifical roughenss bed are deduced. The Maning roughness coefficient and the drag coefficient of a simple type of the artifical roughness bed are measured. An example of a high Froude number stilling basin is taken to illustrate the design method for the stilling basin with artifical roughness bed.4. Study on different artifical roughness test. Artifical roughness bed stilling basin is used in the actual project,the indexes are well from observe. The measure is suggested to use.
