The powerful information technology makes communication everywhere. Because of the homogeneity of technology, if a corporation wants to survive, it has to keeping innovating. Along with the improving of standard of living, people pay more attention to spirit. Because of the rapid development of design industry, the quality of the design works is more and more high. All these facts ask for more and more well designed products. As the most important method of improving the quality of products, detail design is more and more important, and becomes the keystone of research. This paper studies how detail design influences people's feeling when they're watching products.The paper wants to reveal how people perceive the product appearance, the particular contents of detail design, the relationship between the whole product and the detail, and how detail design effect the audience. At last, it brings forward the theory that detail controls the whole figure of products so as to give direction in the design practices.This paper explains people's cognitive psychology when watching products, and analyses people's quality perception of the product appearance. It researches the concept, impact variables and approaches of products detail design, compares quality of the product appearance with the perception result of the product appearance (quality of the appearance perception), and discusses the relationship between detail design and quality of the product appearance. It also discusses the forms of the perception of product appearance, and analyses the impact mechanism how detail design influences audience perception, which including the conception of audience perception reaction field, the variables which detail design influences audience perception, and how detail design control the output of audience perception. The paper also makes a questionnaire survey on three different products'(TV, air-condition, mp3) detail design, so as to demonstrate the theory which detail design controls the whole figure of products. At last, by using two design practices, the author brings forth the methods, process and effect for the reader, provides more evidence how powerful detail design displays in controlling the whole figure of products, how powerful detail design displays in practices.The paper uses two experiments, which are questionnaire and demonstration, to get the original data and get the result by analyzing the data so as to prove the theory of detail design and form the conclusions. Aesthetic feeling of products lies very much on the quality of detail design. Designers can design and estimate detail of products in the ways of five factors including relationships of line-form, cubage-quantity, location, color, characters embodied on different materials. Detail design effects perception of the audience by making diversification based on the order. Designers estimate detail designing entirely.
