Piezoelectric smart structures, an integration of sensors, actuators, microprocessor system, and structual materials together, have capabilities of recognizing,estimating, judgement actuating and so on.Active vibration control based on smart structures is now one of the most important research aeras. The true realization of hardware research on piezoelectric smart structure,which has the practical application value,appears few in articles. In order to put the structures into pratical application, it is significant to develope a kind of active vibration control system ,which are miniaturization and integration. At the same time, the control system should satisfy the requirement of MIMO (Multiple Inputs Multiple Output) and distributed control.In this paper, first the survey of active vibration control research using piezoelectric smart structures is introduced;Then, the measurement and control systems used for smart structures are designed and implementate based on TI's DSP TMS320F2812.The software and hardware of the control system are also finished. Finially, LMS adaptive control algorithm was improved and selected to control the vibration of the aircraft vertical empennage model. In the experiment, the single mode and multi modes vibration can be controlled significantly. This MIMO distributed control system is feasible and reliable.
