A SOD- Based Methodology For Conceptual Design And Design Practice

Conceptual design is regarded as the most important stage in the product development. Decisions made at this stage have significant influence on factors such as performance, reliability, safety, and environmental influence of a product. More importantly, a poor conceptual design can never be compensated by detailed design. It is having important significance to studying at process and method of conceptual design.After a systematic analysis of the state-of-the-art of research on conceptual design, a conceptual design methodology for product innovation is originally put forward for conceptual design of technical artifacts, aiming at solving some crucial issues in this research area. The main work as follows:Firstly, with a detailed study of Scenario-Oriented Design methods, I introduction it to the process of conceptual design, proposed the method of conceptual design based on Scenario-Oriented (CDSOD method), and details the characteristics of the CDSOD and operational procedures.Secondly, through the three elements of story script and product design, used the Scenario-Oriented Design method and rectangular coordinates as theoretical foundation, constructed the core model of CDSOD methods: consumer- environmental- products 3D Space interactive model.Thirdly, detailed analysis the solution process of consumer- environmental- products 3D interactive model. Using the ideas of Systematic design, take the model as a system, which were combined as consumer and environmental Subsystem, consumer and products Subsystem, the environmental and products Subsystem, using different methods to analysis the three subsystems and to gain conceptual products.Finally, I used the method to practice, verified the feasibility of the method.
